Dean’s Award 2022 Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University
The project site is located in Fukakusa, Kyoto City, on the opposite side of the mountain from Fushimi Inari. Designated as an Urbanization Control Area, construction of permanent "architecture" was restricted on this site. Nevertheless, the local community required a gathering place for their annual events. Through extensive discussions with municipal authorities and the client, a design was developed featuring movable units with a narrow width of 900mm. These units form an architectural-like object that occasionally adopts a house-shaped appearance.
